Circle of Daughters was born from love, loss and a determination to seek answers.
In November 2021, four-year-old twin sisters Ophelia and Tarrow lost their lives in a house fire in northern New South Wales. Their deaths changed everything. What should have been a family's worst imaginable tragedy became the beginning of a long and deeply confronting fight for answers, transparency and accountability.
In the five years since, we have navigated an extraordinary range of legal proceedings, government departments, investigative bodies, oversight agencies and support systems across Australia. We have pursued every available avenue to understand what happened, examine the decisions and failures surrounding the girls' deaths, and seek accountability from the institutions and systems entrusted with protecting children and supporting families.
This journey has taken us far beyond what most families could ever anticipate having to understand or endure. We have experienced, at close range, the complexity of Australia's legal and government systems, the barriers families face when seeking answers, and the often exhausting distance between being heard and achieving meaningful accountability.
We have seen how difficult it can be for grieving families to navigate systems that are fragmented, difficult to access and, at times, deeply isolating. We have experienced the emotional and practical burden of having to continually advocate, follow up, challenge decisions and push for transparency, often while carrying the weight of profound personal loss.
It has given us an intimate understanding of how injustice can unfold, not always through one decision or one moment, but through a series of processes, omissions, barriers and failures that can leave families feeling powerless.
But Ophelia and Tarrow's story is not just a story of loss. It is also a story of love, courage, advocacy and the determination to make a difference.
Circle of Daughters has grown from this experience into an advocacy and justice platform. A place to bring people together, raise awareness, share information, mobilise support and create a collective voice for accountability and change.
We believe families deserve to be heard. Children deserve to be protected. Institutions must be accountable for their actions, decisions and responsibilities. And no family should have to navigate the pursuit of truth and justice alone.
Our work is about keeping Ophelia and Tarrow's lives and legacy at the centre of the conversation, while creating space for others who have experienced loss, injustice or systemic failure to be seen and heard.
We are building a community that can turn awareness into action, compassion into support and individual voices into collective advocacy.
Because accountability matters. Because children's lives matter. And because meaningful change begins when people are willing to speak up, stand together and keep asking questions.
This is Circle of Daughters. For Ophelia and Tarrow. For families seeking answers. And for a future where accountability and the protection of children are not optional.
Circle of Daughters exists to turn lived experience into meaningful advocacy, awareness and change. We are building a platform where people can come together, show their support and help strengthen the fight for accountability and justice. Whether through making a donation, sharing our story, adding your voice, standing alongside our advocacy or helping amplify our message, every contribution has a purpose.
Your support helps us secure the resources, expertise, representation and collective strength needed to keep pushing for answers, challenge systems and advocate for meaningful change. This is bigger than one family or one story. It is about creating a community of people who believe that children deserve better, families deserve answers and accountability must mean something.
Every voice matters. Every act of support brings us closer to change.
